Short Biography

I am currently Associate Professor in the ERPI Laboratory, University of Lorraine, Nancy, France. I teach Knowledge Enginnering, Web Intelligence and Agile Project Management at the Department of Innovation and Industrial Engineering. I got my HDR in december 2015 at the University of Lorraine. I received my Ph.D. (2008) in the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbélaird (France) and a M.S. (2005) degrees in the University of Savoie, France. My research interests are: Web Intelligence, Multi-Agents Systems, Knowledge Engineering and Modelling, Semantic Web and Ontologies used to design knowledge based systems. A selected list of recent publications may be found here. My personal objectives are to research and teach in the field of applied computer science and informatics, in an international environment.I am a member of the board of the French Research Association to promote Artificial Intelligence (AFIA). I am also the chair of the IEEE International Workshop KARE (Knowledge Acquisition Reuse & Evaluation) since 2008.

Research Projects

IISUUTS  (2016/2019): Intelligent Immersive Simulation to validate User's Usages for new Transport and mobility Solutions. This project is  sponsored by the Lorraine region. We develop a intelligent immersive platform to simulate the user/people behaviours and perception for a new mobility solution in a urban area. The intelligent system provides also an assistance to the user/people to chose their appropriated transport/mobility means and a assistance to the designer of mobility solutions to define the acceptability rate of his solutions.

Key Words :  behaviour modeling & analysis in immersive environement, Human Interaction, Distributed and Heterogeonous Knowledge, Intelligent system for decision making.

ARCCELyn (2014/2017) : This project is sponsored by the ARCCELyn company. The project aims to design a predictions system for product designers. The system capaitalize knowledge and handle knowledge by using ontologies. By capturing the current context (organizationla context + Intuition + Business process) when a engineer designs a product and by using knoledge bases, the intelligent system proposes predictions i.e. several possibilities or recommendations to design a product. This project was completed by a CIFRE convention with Bertrand Marconnet.

Key Words :  Knowledge Engineering, business process modeling, ontology engineering, multi agent system

PARTICIP 2.0 (2013/2016) :  PARTICIP 2.0 is a international project in collaboration with the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal. PARTICIPE 2.0 aims to develop Intelligent Systemto support the creativity process and especialy the generation, evolution, treaceability, clustering and the evaluation of ideas. Our participation in this project is about to use semantic approaches to classify the idea and also to develop a AI which propose new concepts/ideas during a creativity sequences. The PhD Thesis of Alex Gabriel is associated to this project.

Key Words :  Web semanticSemantic approach, semantic similarity distance between ideas, artificial intelligence

SNOTRA (2012/2015) : This project was sponsored by the Essilor company. We have design and develop a knowledge management system based on a multi agent system architecture. The system aims to capitalize and handle knowledge used by the professional actors in the company and evaluate the organizational maturity of a department or a team according to its  performance key indicators. The multi agent system proposes some action plan to improve the organizational maturity of a team. This project was completed by a CIFRE convention with Julien Girodon.

Key Words :  Knowledge Engineering, Human actions modeling, artificial intelligence, human competence analysis & management

BrainPurge (2013) : This project aims to develop a system to support a Brainstorming sequence, to capitalize the ideas and to propose new ideas according to semantic annotations. The post doctoral research work of Fadi Issa was associated to this project.

Key Words :  Web semantic, Human Machine Interaction

PROCESSMA (2012/2015) : Project sponsored by the TDC Knowllence company. The purpose of PROCESSMA is to analyse and exploit the professional activities traces to build business processes in companies. The developed system proposed to the engineers to use relevant business process during their activities.

Key Words :  Business processes modeling, Ontology, Decision System

ADN - Alliance de Données Numériques (2011/2014) : The Project was sponsored by the French FUI 11. The partners of the project was PSA, EADS and DPS companies, and also the SeT laboratory of the University of Technology of Belfot Montbéliard. Our participation of this project was about to develop a Inteligent System to annotate, extract, validate and broadcast hetreogenous and distributed knowledge from business models. We have also create a ontology editor called OCEAN. The PhD thesis of Inaya Lahoud was associated to this project.

Key Words :  Web Semantic, ontology editor, multi agent system

Numeric Creativity (2010/2011) : This project aims to develop applications to support distance creative sequences by using tablets.

Key Words :  Collaborative creative process modeling, Web ressources annotations, Ideas Ontology

VRAD - Virtual Reality Aided Deign (2009/2011) : The purpose of this project was to develop a immersive world where engeineer products designers can be assited to design and test innovative products.

Key Words :  Virtual Reality, 3D product models, intelligent system

  • PROSPECT Simulation  (2014/2016): The prospect simulation is a educational project between the ENSGSI engineering school (Nancy, France), the Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal (Montreal, Canada) and Universidade Federal de Sergipe (Sergipe, Brazil). The purpose of the project is to build distant and virtual teams with Brazilian, Canadian and French students. The virtual teams have to manage a tablet development project. During the simulation random events happen and the virtual teams have to anticipate and take the good decisions to succeed their projets by applying pmbok project management or Agile project management. I have create the whole content of this pedagogical project and experiment it since 2014 with more than 200 students.
